#196 - Mochinyoro

     Shade some cells so that all areas of orthogonally connected unshaded cells are rectangular and all areas of orthogonally connected shaded cells are not rectangular. The unshaded rectangles must all be connected diagonally. Clues cannot be shaded, and represent the number of cells in the unshaded area they belong to. An unshaded area of cells cannot contain more than one clue. No 2x2 region may be entirely shaded.

      Nice. First puzzle of this type that I am solving. The non rectangular area of shaded rules is really an important part of the rules

      Yep, that rule makes this genre very interesting! Mochikoro is the same genre but without that rule.

I've seen several attempts at a Tentaisho Star Battle hybrid, but I've seen no successful ones without additional rules. #300 - My Original Genres

     For my 300th post, I've put together a collection of example puzzles for all of my original puzzle genres. As I create more in the future, this post will get updated. I hope you enjoy!     1.  Ovotovata  (oh-VOH-toh-VAH-tuh)      Draw a non-intersecting loop through the centers of some cells which visits each shaded region at least once. When the loop exits a clued region in any direction, it must travel in a straight line for exactly the indicated number of cells (turning on the Nth cell, where N is the value of the clue).
