#437 - Square Jam
I've created another puzzle genre that I'm excited to share. Here it is: Square Jam!
Divide the grid into square regions of orthogonally connected cells. A number indicates the side length of the square it’s in. Region borders may not form any four-way intersections.
4:17 for me on this one. Interesting genre, I like the tatami-style constraint and how few clues you can get away with. Definitely picked up a couple of logical steps that I could use as and when you make another of these.
ReplyDeleteNice! I'm pretty happy with this genre so far :)
DeleteI'm really enjoying this genre! The rules are very elegant, and it's impressive how sparse the clues can be. I tried constructing a puzzle as well: https://tinyurl.com/vthzd32v
ReplyDeleteNeat! I did this one in 4:12. Definitely surprising how few clues you can get away with sometimes.
DeleteThat's a cool one! Thanks for sharing.
DeleteGlad you enjoyed them. :) I made a couple more:

2) I wanted to see what happens when applying these rules to a triangular grid: https://tinyurl.com/2uyheaa8 I think this specific puzzle is fine, but while constructing it, I felt that the system is a lot less elegant/powerful here than on the square grid.
3:30 for the square jam, and 5:27 for the triangle one, which definitely was a bit of a mindbender.
DeleteHi Eric, I've ported Square Jam into the Kudamono Editor: https://pedropsi.github.io/square-jam, and included all your puzzles as well all Menderbug's on the page. Do let me know what you think!
