#222 - Grid Logic

Image
This was one of three puzzles I entered into Logic Showcase #22 (Small Gifts). The theme was to make puzzles in grids of 36 cells or fewer.     This is an idea for a "genre" (if you could call it that) which I've wanted to do something with for a while, and finally took this opportunity to since a 6x6 is far less intimidating than a 10x10.      My other entries:      Tapa (Transparent)      Yajisan-Kazusan (Double)      Shade some cells so that no two shaded cells are orthogonally adjacent and the remaining unshaded cells form one orthogonally connected area. If a cell with a statement in it is unshaded, the statement must be true. If a cell with a statement in it is shaded, the statement may or may not be true.

This was one of three puzzles I entered into Logic Showcase #22 (Small Gifts). The theme was to make puzzles in grids of 36 cells or fewer.      This puzzle got second place in the contest, and I'm pretty sure this is an original variant as well!      My other entries:      Tapa (Transparent)      Grid Logic      Shade some dominoes of cells so that no two shaded dominoes are orthogonally adjacent and the remaining unshaded cells form one orthogonally connected area. If a cell with a number in it is unshaded, the number represents how many shaded dominoes can be seen in a straight line in the indicated direction, partially or totally. If a cell with a number in it is shaded, the number is meaningless. Solve online

The theme was to make puzzles in grids of 36 cells or fewer.     My other entries:      Yajisan-Kazusan (Double)      Grid Logic      Shade some cells so that all shaded cells form one orthogonally connected area. Clues may or may not be shaded, and represent the sizes of the groups of orthogonally connected shaded cells in the (up to) 3x3 area surrounding the clue. No 2x2 region may be entirely shaded. Solve online

#219 - Akari

Image
Here's an Akari puzzle with antisymmetric clues!      Place lights in some cells so that every cell is illuminated. Lights illuminate the cell they’re in as well as all cells seen in a straight line horizontally or vertically, not obstructed by a black cell. Lights may not illuminate each other. Clues represent the number of lights in the (up to) four cells surrounding the clue. Solve online

#218 - Tapa

Image
Shade some cells so that all shaded cells form one orthogonally connected area. Clues cannot be shaded, and represent the lengths of the blocks of consecutive shaded cells in the (up to) eight cells surrounding the clue. No 2x2 region may be entirely shaded. Solve online

#217 - Nurikabe (Yajisan-Kazusan)

Image
I first saw t his idea in  this puzzle  by Jamie Hargrove . Here's my take on it!        Shade some cells so that all shaded cells form one orthogonally connected area. Every orthogonally connected area of unshaded cells contains exactly one clue, the value of which represents the size of the area. Shaded clues are meaningless. No 2x2 region may be entirely shaded. Solve online

#216 - Cave

Image
Shade some cells so that the shaded cells are all connected orthogonally by other shaded cells to the edge of the grid, and the remaining unshaded cells form one orthogonally connected area. Clues cannot be shaded, and represent the total number of unshaded cells that can be seen in a straight line vertically or horizontally, including itself. Solve online

#215 - Cave

#214 - Look-Air

Image
Shade some cells so that each orthogonally connected area of shaded cells is in the shape of a square. Clues represent how many of the five cells forming a cross around the clue (including itself) are shaded. Two shaded squares of the same size may not have a vertical or horizontal line of unshaded cells between them, unobstructed. Solve online

#213 - Shikaku

Image
Divide the grid into rectangular regions of orthogonally connected cells. Each region must contain exactly one circle. A number in a circle represents how many cells are in the region the circle belongs to. Solve online

#212 - Ayeheya

Image
Shade some cells so that no two shaded cells are orthogonally adjacent and the remaining unshaded cells form one orthogonally connected area. Numbered regions must contain the indicated amount of shaded cells. The shaded cells within a region must have 180° rotational symmetry around the region’s center. A line of consecutive unshaded cells may not cross more than one bold border. Solve online

#211 - Heyawake

#210 - Nurimisaki

Image
Shade some cells so that the remaining unshaded cells form one orthogonally connected area. No 2x2 region may be entirely shaded or unshaded. Circles mark every instance of a cell which is unshaded and orthogonally adjacent to exactly one other unshaded cell. If a circle contains a number, it indicates how many cells are in the straight line of unshaded cells coming out of the cell with the circle, including itself. Solve online

#209 - Cipher Slitherlink

Image
Connect some pairs of orthogonally adjacent dots to form a single non-intersecting loop. Each letter represents a different constant integer. Clues represent the number of edges drawn surrounding the clue (up to four). Solve online

#208 - Kurotto (Windows)

Image
Here's a Kurotto (Windows) puzzle where all of the clues are powers of 2!        Shade some cells so that clues represent the total size of the orthogonally connected areas of shaded cells that share an edge with the clue. Clued cells cannot be shaded. Cells in the same position in corresponding windows must have the opposite shading. Solve online

#207 - Yajilin

Image
Shade some cells so that no two shaded cells are orthogonally adjacent and draw a non-intersecting loop through the centers of all the remaining empty cells. Clues cannot be shaded, and represent the number of shaded cells in a straight line in the indicated direction. Solve online

#206 - Shikaku

Clues cannot be shaded, and represent the total number of unshaded cells that can be seen in a straight line vertically or horizontally, including itself. Solve online

#201 - Tetraview

Image
This is the second puzzle I've made of this original genre. Enjoy!      Shade some tetrominoes of cells so that no two tetrominoes touch each other orthogonally. Clued cells cannot be shaded, and a clue means that the first tetromino seen in a straight line in the indicated direction is of the shape associated with that letter. Solve online

Here we have another new genre I've created! This was the first puzzle I wrote of its type, and the following post will be the second (which I think is better).      Shade some tetrominoes of cells so that no two tetrominoes touch each other orthogonally. Clued cells cannot be shaded, and a clue means that the first tetromino seen in a straight line in the indicated direction is of the shape associated with that letter. Solve online
